Join us for an afternoon and evening with our very own, acclaimed author Cadwell Turnbull, @cadwellturnbull, on Thursday, September 25th, 2025 as we host a writing workshop presented by Cadwell Turnbull and the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands, @cfvirginislands!
• Cadwell Turnbull, fellow Virgin Islander from St. Thomas, has published three books from the science fiction genre with a fourth one on the horizon appearing in many other bodies of work. His first published book being “The Lesson” which is set in the USVI post alien colonization was described as “complex and enthralling.” Prior that, he had written many short stories, one being selected to be in “The Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2018,” and the following year another one was also selected for the “Year’s Best Science Fiction and Fantasy 2019.”
Apart from “The Lesson,” he has an ongoing series, the Convergence Saga, with the first book “No Gods, No Monsters” receiving positive reviews from NPR and “The New York Times” and winning the Lambda Literary Award amongst other accomplishments. The series also have a second book, “We Are the Crisis,” which came out in 2023, with the last book, “A Ruin, Great and Free,” coming out this year on September 16th! •
From 5:00pm to 9:00pm, there will be the intimate 4 hour writing workshop focused on narrative building. This collaborative session is open to writers of all levels. To join, you will need to register and pay a fee of $10. The link to sign up is below:
